Task 14...
First paragraph
Are women in films represented as sex objects to entertain and pleasure men, with particular reference to Charlie's Agels-full throttle (2003)?
The representation of women has changed since many years; the main reason due to feminism arising during the 70’s where women fought for their rights of equality. However women are still being treated as subordinate to men, as a result reinforcing a patriarchal society. Women were being under-represented in films such as Alex Forrest in Fatal attraction (Dir: Adrian Lyne, 1987), where women were represented as femme fatales [1] however this representation is developing as femme fatales are becoming less frequent with the rise of women in active roles, a role men were seen to be linked with. This is a sign of development in the representation of women, however this does not stop the fact that women are still being viewed for pleasure and in stereotypical ways in contemporary films such as Charlie’s Angels-full throttle ( Dir: McG, 2003).
